What is the Primary
Material made of?
The Matte or Bright Chrome finish portion
of the shift knob is plastic. This is better than metal for 2 reasons.
First, the shift knob is not subject to temperature changes. In the summer,
a metal shift knob can get extremely hot and in the winter, it can get
extremely cold. The plastic will not get hot or cold. The second advantage
is the finish itself. With some of the metal shift knobs we have seen
in customer cars, the finish can chip or flake off. In 5 years, we have
not come across this issue with these shift knobs.
want a shift pattern insert you do not have listed. What other inserts
We offer all the inserts we can get from
BMW. Some inserts will allow Illumination and some will not.
does the Matte Chrome Version cost more?
The Bright Chrome Versions are all plastic
and are easy for me to machine.
The Matte Chrome Version is aluminum and
is not cool to machine. I don't like making them and therefore charge
more for them.
does the M 6 Speed insert cost $115 more?
The M 6 Speed insert is difficult to get.
While BMW sells the other inserts on their own, they do not sell the M
6 Speed insert by itself. The only way I can get an illuminated M 6 Speed
insert is to buy a second shift knob and take the insert out of it for
use in the Illuminated ZHP knob. This second shift knob costs $115.
car does not have an illuminated shift knob. Will your illuminated shift
Yes. Our Illuminated Shift Knobs are sold
as a 'Complete Kit'. Please choose the Option for: 'Pre-2001 Connector
with Retrofit Kit'. This includes a wiring harness as well as detailed
instructions for adding illumination.
is your return policy on shift knobs?
It depends. Some combinations are more
popular than others. Because of this, we unfortunately have to handle
this on a case-by-case basis. Please contact
