The LeatherZ E8x Gauge Kit allows you to add 3
gauges to your 1 Series. The Gauge Panel replaces the ashtray assembly and allows
you to run three, 52mm gauges. The Gauge Panel is the same matte black that
is on the dash on the radio and HVAC surround. Included in the kit are your
choice of three VDO Vision Gauges. You pick the gauges you want; we will supply
everything you need to install them. We only sell VDO brand gauges as we have
had 10+ years of experience selling them and they have always proven reliable
and an excellent value to our customers. As always, LeatherZ includes Amber
Blub covers which will match the gauge illumination to your BMW's interior lighting.

On our other gauge kits, we always offered one
or two different kit options when it came to the gauges. For the E8x 1 Series,
I decided to try something a bit different. I decided this time, that I would
let you pick the gauges you wanted to run in your car. How does this work? When
you order your gauge kit, you will be given 3 choices for your gauges. When
you select a gauge, the online shopping cart will add that gauge and any necessary
senders, connectors, wiring, etc. to the kit. Because the cost of the senders
will vary depending on the gauge, the final price of the kit will depend on
what gauges you select.

What gauges are right
for me?
- It is hard to say. I recommend the following
setups but you should order the gauges you think will be most useful:
E8x 128i - Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature
and Voltmeter
E8x 135i (Stock) - 0-15PSI Boost,
Oil Pressure and Water Temperature
E8x 135i (Modified) - 0-30 PSI Boost
(Or Vacuum/Boost), Oil Pressure and Water Temperature
E8x 135i (Track Setup) - Pyrometer,
Oil Pressure and Water Temperature
How long will it take
to install the gauge kit?
-This is another tough one. It took me 6 hours
to install the Gauge Kit in my car. Installation requires the removal of
the center console as well as few items in the engine bay. I would plan
on a full day and leave room the following day just in case. I have the
instructions set up so that they will guide you through the installation
in two steps. The first is the installation of the gauge panel and wiring
of the gauges. The second step is installing the sender and wiring into
the engine bay. This will allow you to get the gauges into your car and
if necessary, come back at another time to install the senders.
Does the lighting match
the interior of my BMW?
-Yes. As with any of the Gauge Kits from LeatherZ,
3 Amber bulb covers are included that will match the VDO color to your interior.

How detailed are the
instructions? Can you post them online?
-The instructions are the step-by-step process
I used when installing the gauges into my car. Sorry, but I do not post
gauge installation instructions onto the web.
Is the picture of the
Complete Kit above the exact parts I will be getting?
-Not necessarily. The kit shown above is the
E8x 135i (Stock) kit (from question 1). Your kit will come with everything
you need to install the gauges you selected. The kit varies depending on
what you select.
Does the Oil Pressure
warning light in my dash work if I get an oil pressure gauge?
- Yes. Our Oil Pressure Sender is Dual Output,
one output for the Oil Pressure Gauge, one for the warning light on your
dash allowing you to keep the low oil indicator light.
