of our Shift and Brake Boots are handmade to order. Because of the options
we offer, they should be considered a one of a kind item. They are not
mass produced and they are not one-size-fits all. As such, LeatherZ does

LeatherZ Leather Shift Boots (Complete) - Come complete and ready to install.
Simply remove your stock boot and install the new one! Please read the following
paragraph carefully BEFORE ordering!
The LeatherZ Leather Shift Boots (Complete) are the same as our Shift Boots
(Boot Only). The only difference is that the Complete Boot comes with the
OEM BMW plastic ring attached to the boot. The way a BMW Shift Boot works
is, the leather portion is attached to a plastic ring. This ring snaps in
and secures the base of the shift boot to the center console. With our Complete
option, when you receive your new boot, you just need to remove your stock
shift boot and simply install the new boot. Since our Complete Shift Boots
come with this OEM BMW ring already attached, we need to charge more based
on the cost of the ring. With the Boot Only option, since you are re-using
your stock ring, you will save this cost. Please note that if you would
like to save money and have me re-use the plastic ring from your stock boot,
I am more than happy to do that for you. Please
contact me for details.
Our complete leather shift boots are handcrafted and made-to-order with the
same leather used in all LeatherZ products, either Spinneybeck Sabrina or BMW
Original Equipment. Our patterns are exact copies of the factory boots and are
model-specific. We make them with French seams just like BMW does and all of
our boots come with the base plastic mounting ring permanently attached to the
boot, ready for installation into your car. Installation is literally a snap:
remove your shift knob, pull up on your old boot, snap ours into place, and
replace your shift knob.
Certain 2-tone colors and deviating stitching themes are available at no extra
charge. If you would like a custom color or design or have a car/application
not listed below, please call or email for a quote and lead time. We have many
thread colors and many leathers in stock that are not listed on our site. Email
us for more details.
If you want to buy both a shift boot and an emergency brake boot at the same
time, consider buying a
boot bundle to save money.
We use Pfaff Industrial Sewing Machines. We use industrial 93# bonded nylon
and bonded polyester UV-resistant threads.

- Not eligible for discount/coupon
or return/exchange-
The price of our boots varies because of the price of the BMW plastic mounting
ring base, which is model-specifc. We buy new boots from BMW and remove the
BMW leather in order to get the plastic mounting ring base. Then we attach our
boot to the BMW part with the same industrial adhesive BMW uses.
Note: My brother Jon builds every shift boot by hand, one at a time, according
to your order. He has been building them since 2000. They are not mass produced.
We do not order them or even produce them in quantity. Because of this, please
expect a 2 week turnaround time on your order. Jon will not rush under any circumstance
and he will only ship when your boots are perfect and are considered good enough
to install in one of our own BMWs.
If you have one of our boots and send
us a picture, we will use it on our website here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the LeatherZ Shift
Boot - Complete and the the LeatherZ Shift Boot - Boot Only?
The way a BMW shift boot works is, the leather boot is glued to a plastic
ring. This plastic ring snaps into the center console and secures the base
of the boot to the console. Our Complete Shift Boots come with the OEM BMW
plastic ring already attached to the leather boot. The Boot Only Shift Boot
is just the leather portion. If you purchased the Boot Only Shift Boot, you
would get just the leather boot and would need to remove your stock leather
boot fromt he plastic ring. Then install the new boot onto the ring.
LeatherZ Shift Boot - Complete
This is a complete replacement for your stock boot. It has the
OEM BMW plastic ring attached to the base so all you need to do is remove
your stock shift boot and install the new one. No muss, no fuss. Because it
has the OEM BMW ring attached to it, the price is higher and varies depending
on the BMW model you have.
LeatherZ Shift Boot - Boot
Only When you receive it, you will need to remove your
stock shift boot and carefully separate the shift boot from the plastic ring.
Once you have separated the stock boot from the plastic ring, you will need
to glue your new boot to the plastic ring. Once done you will be able to re-install
the new shift boot. I include instructions on how to install the new boot
as well as what glue to use.
Do you accept returns on Shift
and Emergency Brake Boots? Can I exchange my boot for a different one? I selected
a color combination that I do not like.
No.
All of our Shift and Brake
Boots are handmade to order. Because of the options we offer, they should
be considered one of a kind item. They are not mass produced and they are
not one-size-fits all. As such, LeatherZ does not accept returns or
exchanges on any shift or brake boot. This includes un-installed boots. Because
each boot is unique and made to your order, we can not accept it as a return.
Please note that it is VERY difficult to match leather.
Over time, as your leather is exposed to the elements, UV rays, chemicals,
dirt, cleaners and conditions, it will change. We match the leather we use
to new OEM BMW leather that we have. This BMW leather is pristine and has
not been used like your car has. Because leather changes over time, if you
get a shift or brake boot and you are not happy with the color match, we are
sorry but there are no returns or exchanges. Please ask for a leather or
Alcantara sample BEFORE buying.
The price of the shift boot is listed as $100.00 but
when I add it to my shopping cart, it is higher. Why is this?
As stated, the base price of our shift boot is $100.00. Since you are buying
a complete shift boot, with the OEM BMW plastic ring attached, we need to
charge the cost of the boot ring (the plastic piece that connects the boot
to the center console). The cost of this part varies from model to model and
as a result, we have to charge more for certain configurations. If you send
your stock boot to us, we can re-use the boot ring and it will save you the
cost of the new ring...Your total price would begin at $65.00. If you would
like to do this, please contact us.
You can also order our Boot Only Shift Boot and do a little bit of work on
your own.
I do not understand what the boot ring is, is it the
Chrome piece surrounding the boot in some of the pictures?
No. The chrome piece pictured in our gallery is the stock BMW trim from
an M Z3 Roadster/Coupe. It is not a part of the boot but rather a part of
the center console. The boot ring we are referring to is a black plastic piece
that is not seen when the boot is installed. Every BMW shift boot has this
piece and if you remove your stock boot, you will see it. The Boot Ring will
look similar to:

Will the new shift boot work with my stock shift knob?
On some models such as the M3 and M5, the OEM shift boot and shift knob are
all one-piece of leather (they are attached to one another). Please check
to see if your car is set up this way prior to buying so that you can plan
accordingly. If your stock shift knob is like this, you will need to purchase
a new shift knob. We
offer many different styles of shift knobs or you can purchase an OEM
BMW shift knob or one from another vendor. Another option is to carefully
separate your stock knob from the boot- though this sometimes does not work
out very well. I suggest purchasing a new shift knob.
My BMW is not a Manual transmission, do you have shift
boot for automatic/steptronic cars?
We can build you a shift boot for your car. Please contact
us for pricing.
Will this shift boot fit a Right Hand Drive Car?
No. We only build boots for Left Hand Drive cars (US models).
If I buy your boots, can I then send in my stock boots
for the mounting rings and receive a credit?
Sorry but LeatherZ does not do core exchanges or credits for used parts.
We tried to do core exchanges on parts in the past and it became much more
of a hassle than it was worth. Customers would send in their parts many months
later or they would send in damaged/broken/worn out parts. Also, we prefer
to sell NEW parts to our customers. They may cost more, but this way we can
guarantee that there will be no issues with the installation or longevity
of the parts.
Do you accept returns on Shift and Emergency Brake
Boots? I selected a color combination that I do not like.
We do not accept returns on Boots. Because each boot is unique and made to
your order, we can not accept it as a return. If you are on the fence on a
color choice, contact us prior to ordering and request a color sample.
When will I receive my order?
Your boot(s) is made to your order. They are not mass produced. Because of
this, plan on 12-14 days for the boot to arrive in your hands. In some cases,
the boots will ship within a few days of your order and in others it will
take the full 14 days. If you need your boot by a certain date, please call
me for an accurate turnaround time.
